Culture Clash Fridays is a weekly hip hop, soul and reggae dance party with a chilled-out vibe, two dance floors and no cover at the Medusa Lounge in Silver Lake.

Every week you'll find Culture Clash Fridays at Medusa Lounge, a chilled-out dance party featuring two rooms of hip hop, soul and reggae. Non-stop music, dark Gothic decor, and an approachable crowd make this weekly event a popular choice for hipsters in the Silver Lake area. Wait in line to get in for free, or pay $10 to bypass the crowd in the express line.

One of LA's hidden gem club nights also happens to be one of its best dance parties: Culture Clash Fridays. Every Friday night at the Medusa Lounge on Beverly Boulevard, you'll find two rooms of hip hop and reggae packed to the brim with sweaty party people. With plenty of plush seating, two bars and a back patio for smokers, this no-fuss night features a super chill vibe and a body-moving crowd. Hip hop and soul dominate the main room's dance floor, with a little bit of Top 40, breaks and classics thrown in for the hell of it. Resident DJs Jay-P, JeffCee, Rever and War deliver a bouncy mix of dance-friendly favorites that the crowd eats up with a spoon. At the smaller back room dance floor near the outdoor smoking patio, you'll find a fun, funky mix of reggae, including roots, lovers rock, and dancehall. Residents Selecta Seven, Mr. Chin, Faddah Sparrow and Mista Frew keep the dance floor popping all night long. Culture Clash Fridays is free every week – no cover – but you better get there early if you don't want to spend your evening waiting in line. You can also spring for the $10 express line at this 21+ club. Valet parking is $5, but you can probably find free street parking up the side streets if you look hard enough. The dress code is relaxed, but come correct in fresh hipster style – you're still in Silver Lake, after all.

Interesting Facts

Thanks to its dim lighting, dark Gothic decor, and hell-inspired setting, Medusa Lounge is listed in the 2015 Not For Tourists Guide to Los Angeles "for all your Satanic ritual needs." It's a joke - but the place does feel a little bit like the gateway to the underworld.

Tips

For an extra swank night of partying, spring for bottle service for your crew. VIP packages start at $200 for one bottle (Absolut, Jameson or Avion tequila) and admission for four. Upgrade to premium liquor for $50 more, or get a deal with bottle service packages for 8 or 12 of your peeps.
