For those of you who love skankin' to the oldies, Punk Reggae Night was made for you. They spin the best in old school punk, reggae, and ska, and they spin vinyl only. So by nature of the materials, you won't be hearing any Green Day, Blink 182, or any other quasi-punk mess. Not here. It's all the Specials, Fishbone, and Madness here. There's also no standing on the dance floor in your heels and too-tight-to-dance dress, getting pissed off if an errant dancer causes you to spill a bit of your technicolor cocktail. Dress like you're going to a punk concert, have lots of beer money (for a lot of beer, of course), and throw on your rattiest sneakers, and get ready to skank your heart out!

After drinks, saunter down to Harvelle's, Santa Monica's premiere authentic jazz club. Smoky, dim, bare, and unpretentious, it's everything you'd expect for LA's original blues club. There's live music, great musicians, and if you're lucky you can catch a soulful, inspired and electrifying jam session or two. Every Sunday, don't miss The Toledo Show for pure unadulterated soul, jazz and burlesque performances. With its full bar and fittingly cool bartenders, it's a great place for a nightcap after a night of sampling the Third Street Promenade's bars and restaurants.

The silverlake lounge is known for being at the for front of what is happening in the local indie music scene. Go to a show there and you may end up seeing on of the new up and coming indie performers. But Sundays are not about that. Its all about the gay vibe, and more importantly, the Drag show and 5 dollar pitchers of beer (Budweiser). The beer last till it runs out and starts at 3pm. The drag show starts at 6pm, and it’s something to see. The crowd on Sundays is great, completely gay friendly, well basically just gay and friendly.

If you're looking for some unusual booty-shaking grooves, no need to go any further than Zanzibar in Santa Monica. Thursday night is the star night, when KCRW’s own Jason Bentley spins the Afro Funke party, featuring a wide mix of world music, hand selected to get you on the dance floor. Brazilian soul, African grooves, a dash of gypsy funk and other rare tasty cuts will keep you on your feet all night long. The Bedouin-inspired decor offers comfy ottomans and couches to catch your breath on before you head back to get on down.
