In place of the standard red carpet, a pink one was laid out for the start of the new 'Freedom Wednesdays' promotion at Sugar. The media huddled around with their cameras and waited for the list of celebrities that, though seemed bothered, actually turned out for the event.
Inside, flat screen TVs hung on most walls showing 'Charlie and The Chocolate Factory' while DJ Cool Whip played remarkable old music. Sadly, the mixing was poor. The waitresses were dressed in pink outfits that showed off as much skin as possible and a big disco ball hung over the dance floor.
This isn't an all-bad club, however. It just didn't seem to know what image it was going for. Promoters tried to appeal to the glamorous young Hollywood crowd, but they just weren't diggin' the old-style music that didn't seem to have enough of an edge. But, it WAS opening night and perhaps finding your feet allows for a few not-so-glamorous mistakes, including having some would be glamorous stars lining the faded red carpet.
The celebrities that that did show up included member's of TBS's sitcom 'Yes, Dear', Paris Hilton's 5 minute B.F.F Kim Kardashian, 'The Hills' stars Lauren Conrad and Audrina. The infamous designer and friend of the late Anna Nicole Smith, Bobby Trendy, was also there dressed as flamboyant and exaggerated as possible. Wearing an over sized necklace, pink faux fur jacket, 4 inch black knee high boots, and a glossed smile, Trendy declared;
This place needs more levels! These white sofas are too low! I like the ambience though. - Bobby Trendy

| Born and raised in Reading, England, the town famous for one of Europe's biggest music festivals, music, travel and writing came calling. After completing high school, a trip around the world gave ample time to sample new music and countries. After travelling for over 9 months in Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, and anywhere else that had flowing beer and beautiful beaches, I came to Los Angeles to go to college. Spending all my time at shows and knowing too many musicians for my own good I began writing and seeking out new talents. Most weekends I can be found with a note pad in my hand scribbling at one show or another, whether it's rock, jazz, or soul I will be sure to voice my opinion in a not-so-proper English tone all over Los Angeles.... |
