A summer festival designed for true music fans, FYF Fest has settled in for a second year at the LA Sports Arena and Exposition Park. Headliners include Frank Ocean and Morrissey.

FYF Fest 2015

Aug 22 2015

FYF Fest has come a long way since its first incarnation at the Echo in 2004. Today, this massive two-day festival is an LA summer tradition for true music fans, an eclectic extravaganza of legendary performers, local bands and offbeat additions. Rock and indie artists dominate the lineup, which features headliners Frank Ocean and Morrissey – but you’ll hear everything from experimental electronica to shoegaze to folk pop and punk.

With a reputation as an eclectic summer gathering for true music fans, FYF is back and bigger than ever for 2015. Headlining the two-day outdoor event are two artists that rarely perform: Frank Ocean and Morrissey. Ocean hasn’t played anywhere since he released his highly acclaimed album Channel Orange – in 2013. Other top-billed acts include D’Angelo and The Vanguard, Bloc Party, Belle & Sebastian, FKA Twigs, Run The Jewels, Chet Faker, Purity Ring, Solange, Fume, Mac de Marco, and Jesus and Mary Chain. FYF has truly grown into a spectacular summer event since its early days as a punk rock festival in Echo Park. After several years on the dust in the LA Historic Park, the festival will shine this year again at the LA Sports Arena and Exposition Park. Indie favorites, local acts and unexpected surprises fill out the lineup. Don’t miss the performances by Shlohmo, Toro Y Moi, Death Grips, Jon Hopkins, DJ Dodger Stadium, Cold Cave, Savages, Robias Jesso Jr., Deerhunter, HEALTH, Simian Mobile Disco and 90s alt rock favorite Dinosaur Jr. When attending FYF, plan your attack on the schedule: it can take a while to move between the stages. Do you have your heart set on a performer playing at the Sports Arena? It’s a rather small venue, with a capacity of 6,000. Get there early to claim your space. FYF Fest was the dream of a bored 18 year-old from Torrance, and started with a show at the Echo in 2004. Every year it grew larger, and was picked up by major events producer Goldenvoice in 2011. Today it’s one of the top summer events in the city of Los Angeles.
