Recently, there’s been a resurgence of the dirty, garage soul of 60’s girl punk – think the more rockabilly Misfits sung by the Shangri-Las. It’s the hottest sound on the Los Angeles music scene these days, but it’s a little hard to find a great club where you can let loose to these swinging sounds on the dance floor. Enter Club Romper Stomper at the Hollywood Bar and Grill on the east end of Sunset Blvd (by the old Frolic Room). It’s located inside the Gower Gulch strip mall and feels every bit like a wild-west new frontier. Everything from ‘60s garage punk to ‘70s glam punk keeps the dance floor going, and also features live performances by some of the coolest unknown rockabilly and old-school punk bands in the world.
