House of Blues Sunset Strip

8430 Sunset Blvd
West Hollywood, CA 90069

Locals from all boroughs of L.A. and tourists from all over come together at the House of Blues to enjoy the great acoustics and ambience in an iconic part of the Sunset Strip. With room to dance, chat with friends over a beer and even relax at a table and grab a bite to eat, the House of Blues is everything a music venue should be.

The Sunset Strip is known the world over for having amazing music venues, with the House of Blues rightfully retaining its reputation as the crown jewel of the music lover’s paradise. Among a sea of grungy, down and dirty venues on the Strip, the House of Blues stands out as one of the coolest places to catch a live gig. Different levels make this large classic New Orleans-themed space the ultimate in concert viewing. After walking in through a wooden porch surrounded by mossy trees that make you feel like you are in LA the state and not L.A. the town, you enter into the lower level. The first thing you will see is a large bar area, replete with wooden rails etched with different authentic looking New Orleans style carvings. There, bartenders are happy to fill up your cup with all the top shelf liquor you could dream of (don’t worry, there’s also plenty of brews to be had as well). In fact, there are a grand total of three bars in the main area, not to mention the other two upstairs on the balcony level. Though there aren’t any bar stools, there are plenty of intimate VIP tables that seat two to four. Though you have to pay for these prime spots, you’ll be treated to a great seat and food and drink. Beyond the seating area there is of course, a large stage behind a patchwork quilt curtain, where all the magic happens. Lined with tin and different wooden knickknacks, the stage has been home to a variety of class acts. Depending on the music, all types of people come to the House of Blues. Each crowd changes depending on the artist that comes to do their thing on the iconic stage. From partying singles and hipsters there to see metal or indie bands to married middle-aged couples checking out a 1970's music review, the House of Blues is host to all types of music and all walks of life in L.A.

Interesting Facts

The House of Blues was actually opened by the blues man himself, Dan Aykroyd (from the cult classic 80’s flick, The Blues Brothers). Oh, and his partner in the venture just happened to be Isaac Tigrett- the guy behind the Hard Rock Cafe.

Tips

It's West Hollywood, so parking is always a little dodgy, but try to avoid the valet if you can. Especially on nights where there’s a big show going on, you’ll be waiting forever to get the keys to your ride. You’d be better off taking one of the many taxis waiting outside the venue.
