Rooted in the American tradition, The Lady's original music takes a firm twist on the old roots offering an opportunity for tribute and rebirth to the classics that deserve to be remembered. Stirring together influences of legendary greats such as Bessie Smith and Patsy Cline with modern influences like Tom Waits and Neko Case, The Lady brilliantly combines the familiarity of the old with the evolution to the now. She writes with a heart and a head full of humanistic American themes of work, heartache and blues. And as heartache and blues may entail, this gal, not much taller than a shot of whiskey, burns at first and warms the rest of the way down. The Lady will drive you into the past while holding you tight to the present with powerhouse vocals that cut like a trumpet in an old 1920s recording. She'll grab you by the collar with conviction in her verse like a punch to the stomach, knocking you to places you ain't never been but somehow seem peculiarly familiar.
