Los Angeles Dance Clubs:

#2 - Bar Sinister at Boardner's, Saturday Nights

Just a short walk down a candlelit alley brings you to a darkened gothic underworld where everything seems a little more dangerous and a little more sexy. Boardner's sky-high ceilings, chandeliers, and Victorian decor add to the mystery, and on certain nights, you can catch twirling ballerina go-go dancers, aerialists, ribbon dancers and more floating throughout the crowd. The outdoor patio features a smoky fountain and a stage that has had fire dancers, ballerinas, death metal bands, and electro-goth bands in the past.

Boardner's is definitely not your typical night out in Hollywood, as evidenced by the second floor S&M area. You don't have to take part, but don't stare and by all means, give them some space! Boardner's may well be the only club in Hollywood with an S&M area, so it's definitely a once in a lifetime experience, or more if you're so inclined.

When you start to find yourself getting bored with the options for Los Angeles dance clubs, and wanting to go somewhere, but nowhere you've been before, but you just don't know where to go? You don't even know what keywords to search for in Google? Just type in Bar Sinister and get out your freakiest ensemble, and go! It's the premier goth night in Los Angeles, set against a dramatic, beautiful Victorian indoor architecture, and an upstairs area reserved for a little light bondage for the more adventurous people in the crowd. There's an outdoor patio in the back, complete with a fountain filled with dry ice, and a stage for every kind of performance you can imagine, as long as it's darkly beautiful and the performers take themselves a little too seriously.
But once the DJs start going inside, it's one of the better and more visually interesting dance clubs in Los Angeles. Old goth music videos are projected on the walls, there's an occasional burst of smoke from the corners, and the patrons really know how to get down, gothic style. It's the kind of place where you can lose yourself in the music, enter your own dark little world, and let your body flow with the music. That's exactly what everyone else is doing, so don't worry, you won't look weird. Bar Sinister is definitely an experience worth having at least once, and is a great break from your typical Hollywood dance clubs.
