A club that has kept its cool for over two decades, The Dragonfly in Hollywood is a casual nightclub/dive with a variety of music, underground atmosphere and dark party vibe.

Editorial Review

An iconic Hollywood landmark that has maintained an edge for over two decades, The Dragonfly is a dark, gritty nightclub that hosts a surprising range of music performances. From rock to electronic music and everything in between, The Dragonfly is a small and unpretentious dance club with inexpensive drinks, friendly staff, minimal lines and an underground atmosphere.

The Dragonfly is a great alternative club on the far, far end of Santa Monica Blvd that has kept its underground edge in the face of years and years of existing. There's always something indulgent and daring about this club, where club-goers are dressed as if they're filming a re-make of Party Monster, go-go girls and boy shake and twirl about the crowd, getting the party started right every time. The club is appropriately dark inside, with an outdoor area that feels like you're in a bad club scene in a 1980s movie. It's just that kind of club - dark, indulgent, a little dingy, and a whole lot of sexy fun. The space itself features multiple bars, a small stage, intimate outdoor patio for smoking and a 20-something crowd. Drinks are cheap – for Hollywood – and this historic rock and edm club is a music grotto that must be experienced. The Dragonfly’s sound system is solid, and for dancers an additional side room is always booming with beats. Depending on what night of the week you arrive, you might find the crowd bobbing to retro rock music, goth-inspired grinding, a ravey electronic show or dark industrial-chic. With an unpretentious, underground atmosphere, The Dragonfly is the place to go to groove, get your drink on and enjoy a hassle-free Hollywood night.

Interesting Facts

Dragonfly hosts the city's best drum and bass night, Respect, every Thursday night. Cover is $10, dress code is practically nonexistent, and DJ talent comes from around the world to play this seminal club night.
