No matter if they're playing Latin on the top floor, hip hop on the 2nd, and Top 40 on the bottom floor there's always a rocking dance party somewhere at Mayan.
Editorial Review
With three levels of dance floors and seven bars, The Mayan in downtown Los Angeles is one of the city's premiere dancing destinations, and you can even take lessons early in the night before the party starts. A classic LA theater redone into an ancient Mayan temple, this venue has plenty of character, a diverse crowd and eye-pleasing artistic decor.
Club Mayan is both a dance club and concert venue, so you can bet it's huge - three levels of huge. For a concert or for a regular club night, the place is always packed. DJs always get the crowd moving, no matter if they're playing Latin on the top floor, hip hop on the 2nd level, and Top 40 on the bottom floor there's always a rocking dance party somewhere at Club Mayan! It gets hot, sweaty, and the party goes all night. When you need a break, there's large outdoor smoking areas on both sides of the clubs for a bit of Los Angeles fresh air. All told, the club has a total of seven bars dispersed throughout. Every one of the bars has a line and you have to know how to fight for the bartender's attention, but the seven bars does help ensure the party stays on until the wee hours of the morning. It's all about the dance at Club Mayan, and everyone's there to specifically dance. The see and be seen vibe of Hollywood doesn't exist here. Come and shake what your mama gave ya, in whatever shape or size that may be, and get down with the Mayan!
