Daggers Rule!

The skater culture has always been rife with subcultures - you have the hip hop skaters, the skater punks (the most well-known of the skaters), the emo skaters, and the metal skaters. While all skater subcultures have their own self-made aesthetic, the metal skaters by far have the most colorful and have brought art into the mix the most. For once, the curious world of the metal skater is on display at Exhibit A Gallery. This weekend, Tony Alva, Richard Villa III, and Levi’s presents Daggers Rule, an Exhibit A Gallery Exhibition on Saturday, Feb. 27 from 7pm – 11pm. Curated by Catharina Pedersen, this show features are done on Dagger denim vests, in true metal head-style, from artists Tony Alva, Christian Hosoi, Eddi Reategui, Jake Brown, Steve Olson, Greg Lutzka, Sean Sheffey, Dave Duncan, Eric Dressen, Rune Glifberg, La Chappa, Richard Villa III, Nazrn, Marque Cox, Jessika Irwin and tons more. Daggers and Thrashin’ memorabilia will also be on display, as well as 10 classic Dagger/Thrashin’ decks hand painted by Catherine Hardwicke. And for a super-sweet part of the night, they’ll be screening the movie Thrashin’, the skate-metal Rad of the skater punk world. Check out the Exhibit A Gallery for more info, and unleash your inner metalhead skater/artist!
