Lineup: KAVKAV is a Rock n’ Roll solo artist based in LA via London. His music has been compared to everyone from The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and Iggy & The Stooges by British and US press. He recently signed to new LA independent label Wild Echo Records and his first single from his album ‘Dance in A Panic’ was used in a video teaser featuring Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul dancing to the track for his new movie Decoding Annie Parker. KAV’s first band A.K.A Weave signed a record deal with ex-Oasis bassist Guigsy who had started a new label. After the split of the band in 2003 KAV helped reform Manchester legends Happy Mondays & joined them on guitar working closely with front man Shaun William Ryder (who also featured on The Gorillaz hit single ‘Dare.’) KAV played with the Mondays until 2007 touring the world and playing festivals from Coachella, Fuji Rock, V Festival & many more. Around this time KAV launched & co-founded Getloaded indie Rock n’ Roll nights at Turnmills London – the club that hosted sets from Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers, and other major dance legends. The night was extremely successful and was hosted by Shaun Ryder, featuring music legends like Peter Hook (New Order/Joy Division,) Mani (Stone Roses, Primal Scream,) Tony Wilson (Factory Records, 24 Hour Party People.) The event grew to become ‘Get Loaded in The Park’ Festival – a 20,000 capacity festival on Clapham Common running for 7 years. Since launching his solo project, KAV has supported UK band Kasabian at their Brixton Academy show, Headlined Club NME at KOKO, played the Olympics in Hyde Park London, and has toured the West Coast of the US with Norweigan band Datarock. He’s also played SXSW and CMJ festivals in the US. In 2010 he wrote and released a track for Welsh author and friend Howard Marks (AKA Mr Nice) as part of the Mr Nice EP which was released around Howards biopic movie ‘Mr Nice’ (starring Rhys Iffans & Chloe Sevigny.) KAV spent most of 2013 developing and producing music for fashion icon Zombie Boy – the face of L’Oreal Dermablend, Jay Z’s clothing line Rocawear, and was featured in Lady Gaga’s ‘Born this Way’ video. KAV’s album is out on August 26, 2014; he will be touring the US this fall. KAV is also launching regular ‘Dance In a Panic’ parties at Mack Sennett Studios in LA this fall – inviting some of the best local LA talents & featuring legendary music guests. KAV will be a resident at these LA parties.
