Los Angeles Dance Clubs:

#4 - La Cita

For those of you who love skankin' to the oldies, Punk Reggae Night was made for you. They spin the best in old school punk, reggae, and ska, and they spin vinyl only. So by nature of the materials, you won't be hearing any Green Day, Blink 182, or any other quasi-punk mess. Not here. It's all the Specials, Fishbone, and Madness here. There's also no standing on the dance floor in your heels and too-tight-to-dance dress, getting pissed off if an errant dancer causes you to spill a bit of your technicolor cocktail. Dress like you're going to a punk concert, have lots of beer money (for a lot of beer, of course), and throw on your rattiest sneakers, and get ready to skank your heart out! Every Friday

La Cita is fun because it has so much going on at any given time - Friday happy hours, Saturday Derby Dolls after parties, and Wednesday Movie Nights, and that's only half the week! You can enjoy punk music and free pizza around 7pm delivered by Two Boots Pizza, the Los Angeles branch of this NY pizza king on Fridays, and come back the next night to tear it up on the dance floor with the infamous Los Angeles Derby Dolls after they've spent a couple hours getting banged up in the rink - black eyes and all! On Wednesday nights, enjoy the projected movies on the back patio with cheap beers, good food, and lots of friends!
The night to go dancing is Thursdays, called DanceRight. If you RSVP, you're in for free, and the dark, dingy interior is yours to let loose with wild abandon in. Groove to the sounds of Justice, Daft Punk, and Run DMC on any given Thursday. It's a little bit hipster, a little bit scenester, a little bit Hispanic rockabilly, but this Los Angeles dance club in Downtown LA is one of the best in the area, and definitely a breath of fresh air from the more upscale places. Check it out on any night and you can't go wrong!
