From The Owners:The Write Off Room, created by a musician FOR musicians, at Ventura and Topanga serves all of LA but is a godsend for those in the north Valley, Topanga Cyn, Malibu, Woodland Hills and environs. With its pristine sound, mid-century aesthetic, banging stage and dance floor, multiple screens…this place is manna for musicians and enthusiastic audiences. The Room seamlessly slip-slides between roadhouse, honkey tonk, jazz joint, blues dive, whiskey bar, depending on who’s playing. Some of the city’s most renowned session players are finding succour here in this musician’s home away from home.
Created and curated by blues guitarist and singer, Bill Lynch, Kansas City’s very own Rock N Roll Hall of Famer, who wanted to establish a place where musicians can play, experiment, jam, and invite their friends to sit in. Bill is a freak for superb sound so rest assured you haven’t heard anything better at any other club. There are several bands currently in residence: The Bonedaddys, Teresa James and the Rhythm Tramps, The Deductions and Bill’s own band, with Jorge Calderon and John Ferraro, and Preston Smith, who will be in-house during the month of June.
On top of this wealth of music, there’s a fab drink menu created by LA’s premier mixologist, Aidan Demarest, of you-name-it bar fame, including The Antioxidant and Rosemary’s Baby along with over 37 beers on tap and an impressive array of brown and agave spirits. Add to that a menu definitely a cut above your typical bar offerings.
