At Molly Malone's, celebration is this pub's middle name. They're taking out the entire day of St. Patricks' Day and dedicating it to all things Ireland. Who cares if St. Patrick's Day is on a Thursday? Not Molly Malone's, that's for sure. They're starting at noon with a bagpipe serenade, then they keep the music going with The Conroys, Slugger O'Toole, The Dunrussagans, Hopeless Jack & The Handsome Devils and The Black Shamrocks to close it out. Molly's takes their beer seriously here, so no green beer here either. They do keep to the ambiance of an authentic Dublin pub pretty closely, with an interior made entirely of wood, with books lining the shelves, art everywhere, and Irish memorabilia covering the walls. You really can't get much more authentically Irish than a pub with books - the country that is home to James Joyce (even he has a few pubs named after him as well) takes its literary pursuits as seriously as they take their beer. On any given night, they've got a fine selection of drinking music, from acoustic performances, indie, country, bluegrass, Americana, rock, pop, and even reggae. Seminal Irish folk-punk band Flogging Molly played there every Monday in the late 1990s and early 2000s, to give you an idea of the quality of music you'll hear at Molly's. Molly Malone's is the place to go for good drinking times any time of the year, but especially St. Patrick's Day!
